The business
environment where we expect our training organizations
and their learning solutions to drive human performance
has changed. For starters, the velocity at which
business operations must adapt and respond in order to
remain competitive has mandated something new from our
training efforts – an unprecedented need for
agility. This demand for increased agility implies a
greater sense of urgency in creating readiness in the
workforce – readiness to be as responsive to change as
the business operations they are responsible to sustain.
Sadly, our traditional training paradigms do precious
little to ensure sustained capability as tangible
outcomes. The catalyst for changing our outcomes rest in
one simple fact – The accelerated velocity of business
has blown the doors off traditional training’s ability
to keep pace. Compound the impact of today’s business
speed on learning demands with training’s limited scope
of discovery, outmoded design models, and inefficient
use of technology, and we see the formation of the
perfect storm. The time for re-invention is now – before
the storm breaks.
Traditionally,
improving knowledge and skills have been foundational to
the charter of most training organizations, and there is
nothing wrong with that; nor, will that need ever
disappear. Knowledge and skill improvements are
critical; however, they represent only the seeds of what
we ultimately expect to manifest as tangible human
performance outcomes. However, training must expand its
role to ensure that learning is available and effective
in the work context—when the need for knowledge
is critical for success. Being effective in the work
context represents a new paradigm for traditional
training organizations who must respond by expanding
their scope to include a more holistic look at serving
the entirety of the learning environment beyond the
formal training domain. This expanded learning domain
dramatically changes the rules of engagement and
promotes the assertion that treating learning
holistically across an ecosystem will better serve
training’s contribution to business sustainability.
MYCA
Multimedia & Training Solutions recognizes the true
value realized from a training solution lies well beyond
flattering course evaluations, positive test scores, and
high completion rates. Our solutions consider the work
environment and the importance of learner performance
within the confines of his/her role in the organization.
Holistic design drives robust solutions that expand our
scope of impact into the work context where we expect
course graduates to apply their newly gained knowledge
and skills. MYCA accomplishes this outcome through a
technique we call Immersive Learning.
Our solutions immerse the learner into highly
interactive multimedia scenarios where they make
decisions as a member of a work team throughout the
formal on-line learning experience. A key point of
differentiation for any MYCA solution is realized when
we also immerse the learning solution into the
client’s post-training work context via an innovative
reinforcement methodology called Reality BytesTM.
Reality Bytes provide post-training reinforcement in the
form of three-to-four minute interactive learning
objects that test learner retention while they are in
their work context; provide immediate remediation when
necessary; seamlessly track responses; and provide
participation results to accurately guide future
follow-up.
How far into the
work context does your formal learning reach? If your
solutions do not seamlessly integrate into the
post-training work context, consider the partnership of
Human Performance Outfitters & MYCA Multimedia &
Training Solutions as a resource to enable a learning
ecosystem in your organization.
